Choosing the best Keynote Speaker for an Event

Keynote speakers can help you get your message across to your audience in an entertaining way.  They also set the expectations and the mood of the program you are organizing.  But the search for the best keynote speaker for the event can be a bit daunting if you do not know what you’re looking for.  That is why it is best to figure out what message you are trying to convey and how you want it communicated to your audience.  Are you aiming to spread awareness?  Are you promoting a new business?  Knowing this information can guide you in your quest for the best keynote speaker for your event.

Once you know what you are trying to promote in your program, you can now start scouting for a potential keynote speaker.  But you need to find a keynote speaker with experience in the topic related to the event you are organizing.  For instance, if you are trying to promote a health product, you need an established personality who can attest to the effectiveness of the product you are promoting.  This personality must reflect the positive health results of the product they are promoting.  Otherwise, your audience could become skeptical of the message you want to send out to your audience.

Another important thing to remember is to select motivational speakers who are not fazed by a large crowd.  Remember that not all celebrities or people who have appeared in media are comfortable with speaking to a large audience.  Before you book them in as guest keynote speaker to your event, you may request them to do a test run or ask a video recording of an event they have been invited to as a guest speaker.  In this way, you will be able to asses if they are able to connect with the audience and convey the message you want to send across to.

Lastly, it would be helpful to ask for a draft of the speech they will be addressing.  In this way, you will be able to know if he or she understood fully what message you want to convey.  Otherwise, they might ruin the expectations you want to set for the entire event or might even tarnish the reputation of your company or organization.  You may want to request for a draft of the speech a week or two before the day of the event to allow you and your guest speaker to make some enhancements on the speech with little hassle.  Also, it is best to provide your guest speaker all the information he or she needs about the program, such as the demographics of the audience you are expecting, and the values you want to convey in lieu of the promotion of your product or service.
